Alert Definition Text

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to modify the text within an Control Centre Alert Definition. Alert_Definition.JPG

For example, looking at the above definition. I was wondering if there was anyway to change not only the description text, but more importantly the name?

Reason: We are setting up various alerts and because of the requirements we are going to have 3 or 4 versions of the same definition and rather than them all being the same name with a different identifier, if the name could be changed to something meaningful, it would help us. Equally if we can change the descriptive text it would help our service desk who are going to get lots of alerts that all read the same, but are not actually all the same.

Andrew,

The message text is hardwired. The closest I've seen done that is similar to what you are looking to do was completed outside of ECC with an elaborate parsing of SNMP traps sent from ECC. The mesage was squelched if the port was not considered a trunk port (after cross-referencing a semi-static inventory table). The customer developed this scheme on their own.

Hope that helps,
