2 ECC v6 infrastructures

Hi, I have 2 ECC v6 infrastructure, and I am interested in making the two console windows look different? Does anyone have experience with changing the Windows Color? Title bar text? Login Screen logo, etc. Thank you.

Can't you combine the 2 into 1 and manage everything from 1 console ?

I was thinking the same myself. I'm just about to do that for two environments we have (originally separate companies) and I'm really looking forward to the simplification of management.

You can always identify each Symm by it serial number.... and you could change that number into a useful name or something. We attached the cities to each serial#.

Yes, I had to do that for our management reports. For some reason they can't automatically recognize every array we have in the environment by serial number.

Those slackers!!! *lol*

I do agree that 1 "huge" environments may simplify some administration tasks, but I think having 2 environments add benefits. We seperate our dev and prod ECC environments. Each of the environment is a 'large size', so it will be easier to manage them seperately. In addition, this allows us to do ECC testing on the dev infrastructure first before moving into prod. In addition, my past experience is when ECC is managing too many objects, the performance degrades and things starts to get 'wired'.

Super,

I can't provide any info on changing the colors of the title bars, etc. A few of the tricks I've employed to help identify which (of 3) ECC Infrastructure's Consoles I'm presently looking at are;

1) Looking at the User Defined Groups in the Tree View. These are organized with a naming convention which identifies the managed site.

2) Launch the consoles from 3 different RDP sessions running in parallel on my desktop task bar. I can't typically see more than one console at a time, but it helps to keep organized by switching from session to session to view alternative consoles.

Hope that helps,

A DEV environment for your SAN???

Wow!!! If I had a DEV/Test environment.... Oh the things I could do (and feel confident they wouldn't blow something up the first time).

Yes, this is what I am doing right now. But if "somehow" I can change the Windows's Title bar text to show which ECC I am connected to, it would eliminate confusion to our junior admins. Thanks!

I asked management for a DMX4/950 for our lab, but all we got was an old CX400 and 2 Brocade DS16B's or something......

When I asked they offered me a pair of decommissioned FC4700-2s and an ancient IBM F-16 switch. I turn them down so the Server team is going to have it all shipped to our other site for their lab.

I said "good luck with that!". I won't be supporting it :-)
