WD19TBS

Greetings,

I have an AMD X670E machine with onboard USB4 (required description on AMD machines) ports. The controller is a Thunderbolt 4 Intel JHL9540 Maple Ridge part.

I want to use a Thunderbolt 2 audio interface on this machine. I am aware that Thunderbolt 4 is not officially backward compatible with 2, while 3 is. Unfortunately, there are not many Thunderbolt 3 interfaces available outside of the pro markets. I am a poor musician.

I have read that using a Thunderbolt 3 dock between the Thunderbolt 4 machine and the 2 interface, along with a Thunderbolt 3 to 2 converter, increases the chances of success. I am not asking for a debate on this, although any advice would be gratefullty accepted

My questions are, would the dock would be seen in device manager as a Thunderbolt 3 device? Also, I live in Canada. Dell has discontinued the WD19TBS. If I were to buy new from a reputable Canadian or US seller, would the warranty be honoured?

Thanks,

Graham
