WD My Passport Ultra 5TB Hard Drive not recognised by my XPS 15 9575 2-in-1

I bought a brand new WD My Passport Ultra 5TB Hard Drive. The package arrived all in order. I plugged it into my XPS 15 9575 2-in-1, but it doesnt recognise it at all.  I have looked through updated drivers, updates, device management.  Nothing, not found at all.  I've tried switching between all my ports.  I've tried using the usb c-connector cord that came with it, and the usb a adaptor plug. Nothing works.    I'd appreciate some help in how to fix this please.  It doesnt even find it in disk management.
