Using factory image on a new ssd?
I have a failing hard drive on my XPS l502x, I have ordered a new 512gig ssd to replace it. I hope this is a simple question but I keep coming across conflicting posts/ideas. All I want to do is create a recovery factory image on a USB, replace the drive, boot from the USB and let dells factory image do the rest. I do not want to clone my data, I have no need for anything on my PC, I just want to start from the start. I'm on win7 home premium. Would it be as straight forward as I describe above or am I missing something? Cheer MB

MBorrick ,
In theory you could possibly do this provided your replacement hard drive is the same type that is in the drive right now. You would also need to make the usb drive a bootable drive You should also record the bios settings to make sure that you do not change the boot options. Backup, my point was to open all bios screens and record the current settings. Then, once you have the USB boot key with image made, reboot, F12, choose the USB key to load the image on the new HDD
