Upgrade Optical Drive in XPS 8910
I want to upgrade the optical drive on my XPS 8910 from the standard DVD drive in the XPS series to a Blu-Ray drive. I'm concerned, however, about the available room for a new drive. The current drive appears to be a slim version. All of the internal Blu-Ray drives that I'm finding for desktops don't look like they would fit in the space available. However, laptop drives look like they have a similar form factor. Would I be able to replace this drive with one meant for a laptop? I'm fairly new to PC building. Any recommendations/help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a notebook drive -- that said, just leave it as is and add an external blue-ray drive -- that way it can be moved to other systems when needed.
example:

Whatever you do buy, make sure it comes with software -- as Windows 10 has no native blue-ray decoding support and there are very limited ways to read blue-ray discs using open-source software.
