Studio 1745 Hard Drive
The Mrs. dropped her (old) Laptop today and (at least) broke the screen. Not sure about any other damage? I've remove the hard drive. My plan is to connect the hard drive to another PC. And if it still functions, use the resident backup software program on the drive to perform one final system back up. Then put the backup on a new PC when she buys one. My problem is : I don't know how to connect the laptop hard drive to another machine, access there moved hard drive and restore it. Any help would be appreciated.I'm sure I don't have the necessary cabling to connect.

You are right the drive will not be bootable, but you can transfer all the files and folders that you wish to save.

Remove the hard drive and use an USB adaptor similar to THIS , or THIS , to attach the hard drive to a USB port of a working computer.

...going to sound like a dumb question but if the hard drive is not damaged, what am I going to see and what will I be able to do with the contents of the drive --- when I attach the removed hard drive to a working computer? I mean it's not going to be bootable is it?
