SSD System Image

Dear all,

  I've an Alienware M18X with a 256GB SSD PM81.

I'm trying to create a system image with no success because error reading from source disk.

I tried several tools, unsuccessfully.

Despite very good performance, SSD drives seems to have a bad sector and for this reason all tools fail to create a clone/sytem image.

How can I solve this issue ?

Thanks in advance, Federico

Hi Castor,

thanks for you suggestion. I tried clonezilla with -rescue option to skip bad sectors.

Then I defined a RAID 0 volume using 2 SDD, 256 GB both.

I was not able to clone back the system image, so I needed to install Windows from scatch ...

Ciao, Federico

Have you tried Ghost (11.x and below) whilst booted into WinPE for e.g? You can ignore bad sectors and image anyway (you can tick this within Options in Ghost)

None of this is advisable however and I would replace the SSD (there are bad cells present) if possible as further cells may die further down the line.
