SATA HDD running on IDE controller?

I checked my device manager, my who-knows-what-brand 120gb SATA drive is set on the Primary IDE master as UDMA 5!!??! WTH?!?

*note: I realised there is also no SATA drivers provided with the sata drive. I did not install sata drives when i installed windows from the dell win xp cd.. is that normal?

(sry bad english,me is german :)

first a link :

http://www.tweakpc.de/hardware/tests/mb/abitbh7/abitbh7.htm  (sry, hope u can a little bit german ;)

shortly translated (i give my best)

some boards share ide and s-ata.  if s-ata is diabled the prim/sec ide port is availbl. if s-ata is enabled the s-ata disk uses the primnary port of this ide connector.  interessting that in that case
u don´t need to install a s-ata driver.

so it don´t seem like a problem i think

u can use the secondary ide channel normally.
the primary is reserved for the s-ata.
