Replace Drives

On a Dell XPS 8300 (built 2012) can I replace Serial ATA II RAID 0 With Dual 500GB Hard Drives with Seagate 2TB drives (Spindle Speed 7200rpm, Serial ATA-600, 3.5" Form Factor)?

Hi Ronfc,

Yes. SATA 3 is backward compatible. You'll probably want to clone your hard drive image over to the new drives, or perform a clean install.

Hello Osprey4, Finally got round to installing two Hitachi Deskstar 2TB 7200rpm, 32mb cache, SATA 3 hard drives - problem is the computer does not recognize them, when run the ePSA Pre-Boot Assessment get error code 2000-0141 and Validity 12800 with msg saying no hard drives.

i unplugged and reinstalled cable but no change.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,  Ron

Hi Osprey4, Got everything working the "new" Hitachi drives I got from Amazon were both failures so bought two locally and they worked right away..

Thanks,  Ron
