Reinitialise SSD
Hi, I'd like to reinitialise an SSD that has had a Dell HDD Password set on it. I am not interested in the password or the data, I just want to reinstall the OS, and rebuild the machine. The SSD was originally in a Latitude E5520.
I have tried installing the drive on other machines, but it doesn't seem to be recognised as a disc drive at all.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Tim

When a hard drive password is set on a Dell laptop, then the only way to get it remedied is to call Dell, prove ownership and possibly pay a service charge, to obtain an override password.
You could also, replace both the motherboard and hard drive.
The password is stored in a flash EEPROM on the motherboard.

Yes, shesagordie is right. So you have 2 choices. I didn't suggest you to replace your motherboard because, it will a expensive solution. Please contact your dell and prove your ownership to override password.
