Problems playing DVD's with SONY DVD+-RW AW-Q160S
my DVD player (SONY DVD+-RW AW-Q160S) does not play a lot of DVD's I have. These are original DVD's bought in offical stores. I have sent an e-mail to Dell support and they gave me a download link for problems with my audio. The problem is though that the DVD's are not recognized at all. I also talked to a support guy for half an hour (after waiting for half an hour) and he advised me to download PowerDVD and after that it should work again. He said he would call me back after half an hour so he did not have to wait for the download to be completed, unfortunatly he did not call back and it did not solve the problem. And unfortunatly the support desk can be called at times I have to work so the next time I can call is in about 2 weeks. I think I need a firmware update for my DVD player but I can not find anything like that for this type DVD player from Sony. Can anyone help me with dis problem or does anybody have simular problems ?

The helpful people at Dell have done a pointless OS restore on my PC, kept me on the phone on 5 occasions now for a total of 4 hours, and have eventually announced that the Sony drive is not a dual layer drive. They are wrong. Almost any modern DVD drive should be able to READ dual layer DVDs, and I don't care if it can burn one or not. With this, they transferred me to their parts upgrade department so that I could purchase a suitable drive!
I've decided to just buy a new DVD drive. It's much easier. Dell Support is wrongly named.
