pn556w not writing.

I used to use my 556w pen a lot with my dell inspiron 7568, for years in fact. I stopped using it a while ago, and recently picked the pen up to use again. I replaced the batteries, and the top and barrel buttons work just fine, but it will no write. I've downloaded every driver i could think of and haven't had any luck. What am I missing?
