Optiplex 790 3 TB support
I'm having a problem with 3 TB drives being detected as 746 GB. I've updated to the latest drivers available from Dell. Shutdown several times. I've also tried using the Intel driver update tool. It detects and old chipset driver but 10.0.27 is installed already and is the latest I've found. I'm out of ideas if someone could tell me what else to try.
Edit: Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.
Thanks

The USB drive is handled by the controller inside the external case - is this a pre-built (WD, Seagate, etc.). drive or one you put together from an enclosure and an internal drive?
If it's the latter, are you certain the drive enclosure supports drives this large?

Are you attempting to install this as a boot drive? If so, you must use UEFI mode and GPT - not MBR. In turn, that requires 64-bit Windows 7 -- 32-bit versions of Windows 7 do not support UEFI.

It is not the boot drive. It's a USB hard drive that works fine on other PCs. I've tried both front and rear ports as well.

It does appear the Thermaltake Blacx is to blame. Thanks
