NO CD-ROM drive in Windows explorer
I'm not sure why but my CDR-RW (d: drive) is no longer showing up in windows explorer. I installed a new one, and I still had the same problem. I've tried going into the device manager and that didn't work. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,
If you have not changed the jumper settings on the drive, Dell ships using the Cable Select Feature.
Click on the Cd/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1 ~ use of Device Manager; Section 11, articles 2 & 1 ~ Dell`s Clearing the NVRAM and Restoring Setup Defaults.
Best Regards

I saw the same problem. Both the CDRW and DVD drive would not work. In device manager, they both had a yellow exclamation mark - possible driver conflict. I found a post on the forum that point to a Microsoft registry change. It worked. I'm trying to find it again because the system (relatives) I fixed was performed a few months ago and the problem has resurfaced. Anyway, there a registry fix for this I believe. Keep searching, you may find it before me. If I find it, I'll post it here. You would think one of the Dell techs on this board could have a quick answer.
Good luck,

Hi TechBif,
You may be thinking about the issue with the Upper & Lower Filters. I have the article listed in Section 100, article 31 from Microsoft and Dell`s version in Section 12, article 10.
