Newly Installed Internal Second Hard Drive Not Recognized

XPS L1701X Laptop (running Win 10). Installed a second 500GB WD Hard Drive which is not recognized in BIOS. I updated (flashed) the BIOS to A10, and I updated all the drivers recommended by Dell Support.

If I remove the new second drive and move the First (original) drive over to the vacant second slot it works fine and also shows up in the BIOS - so it appears to me that there is no problem with the second drive port.

I have tried everything I have been able to find on the Net about this issue, such as checking the connection of the second drive, but to no avail as yet.

Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Sasha100,

Hi OSPREY 4:

It is a Western Digital Blue 500 GB, Model # WD5000LPCX, . My Dell Laptop already has one WD Hard drive 500 GB installed.

Thanks
