My CD Driver is not working..Please Help! Please!

Hello I have a Dimension 4500. I have a CD Driver _NEC NR-7900A. I was away from my computer when it was on, came back to see it had reset and my driver is gone!! I went into Device Manager, and under the DVD/CD-Rom Drives category, there is a yellow circle with an exclamation point in it next to the NEC NR7900A. I tried doing the troubleshooting it suggested. I uninstalled it, then had the computer search for the hardware. It says "found new hardware" but then says a problem occurred during installation and I get the same problem with the exclamation point. Have also done the update driver and it says I do not need to.

Can anyone help me please? Thank you so much

Look in the Device Manager ..........

Start | Control Panel | System in classic view | Hardware tab | Device Manager

Click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives.  Is there an Error Code number)?

For Code 41, try this Dell Article for Removing the UpperFilters and LowerFilters Values
with the Registry Editor here ...............

Disregard the reference to Roxio.
