Latitude D830 laptop bios will not recognize hard drive
I recently purchased a used Latitude D830 which had its hard drive removed. I replaced the drive with a working 500Mb drive (working verified on my big Dell GX620). The laptop does not recognize that a HD even exists (no hard drive section in setup!) Otherwise the laptop appears to be running. Diagnostic passed all sections EXCEPT hard drive. I also tried a working 1Tb drive, with same results.
I am open to suggestions and to what to try next. Help is appreciated

If you're sure the drives are connected properly (and if they're newer, 7 mm drives, they'll need a spacer to fit in the 9.5 mm drive caddy):

and if two drives aren't showing up, it's likely there's a fault with the system board.
