Internal DVD Drive Not Recognized on Wake UP

Inspiron 17R (Early 2013) when put into sleep, the internal DVD drive is not being recognized when starting back up. Once I hard reboot the laptop, it is recognized. It is configured with the DVD+/-RW, 8X, 9.5, Serial ATA, TRAY, TOSHIBA SAMSUNG STORAGE TECHNOLOGY drive. When I try to run the online diags the drive is not detected so it looks like it is being dropped at the bios. I recently updated the bios to the latest  recommended. Any ideas what is going on here?????

There's no special configuration required to install an SSD later. Just get the configuration of drives you want to use with the SSD. Obviously, with the SSD installed, an mSATA cache provides no benefit, so I wouldn't choose that option.

Hi Coozman,

I assume you have tried inserting a disc and that the drive still does not work.

One possibility is a drive letter conflict. Normally the internal DVD drive takes letter D but sometimes, other external storage devices conflict with this assignment. Do you have any other storage devices connected? Try disconnecting them and see if that helps.

If that's not the problem, try the upper and lower filter trick (link below).
