Installing Windows 10 on secondary SSD
Hello,
I am writing to ask about installation process of Windows 10 on secondary SSD.
I am using Dell Inspiration 15 5567 and recently I have replaced DVD drive with SSD.
I would like to install Windows on said SSD. Unfortunately during process of installation, when SSD is selected, I got message (translation):
"Windows can not format partition on disc 1. There was an error during preparation of chosen partition to installation. Error code: 0x80070057". Then I have to restart computer.
I have tried many things so far:
- disabling SATA0, where primary HDD is
- different settings in BIOS
- installing Ubuntu on SSD
Last try was partially successful. Ubuntu was installed on SSD, but computer didn't start it. In "BIOS -> boot sequence" and "F12 menu" I saw that SSD is recognized it showed that ubuntu is availble. Unfortunately after Dell boot screen error has appeared that no disc with OS was found.
I ended up trying to install Windows on primary HDD, with same USB stick I used before, and it succeed.
My observations are:
- USB stick I used is working fine
- SSD seems ok too
- HDD and SSD are on different SATA ports (is it possible that SATA 1 is not siutable for OS Drive?)
Best regards.
