Inspiron N5010 HDD replacement.
Hi,
In my Dell Inspiron N5010 internal hardisk failed and shows some bad sector error.
Am planning to replace it with WD 1 TB LAPTOP INTERNAL HARD DRIVE (WD10JPVT/WD10JPVX).
Its specs is
| DRIVE CONFIGURATION | |
|---|---|
| Interface | SATA 3.0 Gbps |
| Device Type | 2.5 inch HDD |
| Cache Memory | 8 MB |
| Drive Capacity | 1 TB |
| Device | Laptop |
| Transfer Rate | 150 Mbps |
| Reliability | 600000 (Load/Unload Cycles) |
| Data Transfer Rate (To/From Host) | 3072 Mbps |
| Form Factor | 2.5 inch |
| Non-recoverable Read Error | 1 per 10^14 |
| Spin Speed | 5400 rpm |
Kindly let me know if it will be supported for Inspiron N5010.
Thanks in advance.

Any standard SATA notebook drive that's 9.5 mm or slimmer will work fine.

Hi Sriram_ravikumar,
The above 2.5 inch hard drive is compatible with the Inspiron N5010 system. The system supports SATA 2 technology then the system will downgrade from SATA 3 speed to SATA 2 speed if SATA 3 hard drive is connected.

Hi,
I am in similar situation as above. Is it is possible to use a SATA 1TB hdd 7200rpm instead of a 5400rpm for the Inspiron N510?
Many thanks in advance, for all your help.
With kind regards,
