Inspiron 5537 with Matshita UJ8E2 won't burn DVD

I have an Inspiron 5537 with Matshita UJ8E2 CD/DVD drive. The system originally came with Windows 8, but I upgraded to Windows 10 some time ago. Unfortunately, the DVD drive won't burn any DVD - I tried several programs, but I always get a message that the "DVD is not recognized".

The device manager shows the Matshita UJ8E2 properly working with the current driver, so I have no clue why the process won't work. Honestly, I haven't burnt any DVDs so far, so I do know whether the problem might be related to the Windows 10 update or already existed with Windows 8.

Any clues?

johannes089,

Does the drive read and play dvd's ? Try using different media disk as well.

How to write a CD/DVD using Windows?
Insert a blank CD/DVD in the optical drive.
Right-Click the folders or files you want to write to a cd and select Send To-> DVD RW drive.
The screen with the files to be written to a disc appears.
Click Burn to disc to start writing the files to the disc.

The drive does play DVDs without any issues, but won't burn them. Instead when following the process described above, an error message pops up saying: "Data carrier can not be read".
