Inspiron 5070 laptop stopped recognizing my usb ports

Yesterday, when I tried to connect my smartphone to my computer, none of my usb ports would recognize it.  This was also true for one of my external hard drives.  My mouse and cooling pad usb's still work.  Any suggestions.  I wonder if 2 new windows 11 updates has something to do with it.
