HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N

Hello,

I have an Inspiron 8600 with this CD/DVD writer HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N : It does not reconize DVD-R. but when I put a DVD+R to burn it,  I have a error message" this disc is a DVD+R type and your reader does not reconize DVD+R" If somebody could help me...

This drive requires indeed plus type media (DVD+R or DVD+RW). But it seems to be also a little bit picky when it comes to different brands. I have the same drive and so far I have found two brands of DVD+'s that work always and several others that don't. You may want to check TDK and Ricoh brands. Those two are the ones that work for me.

Philips DVD+R and +RW work well on mine as well.
