HD dying

I have an Inspiron 580 running W7 and getting a message saying my HD is dying.  Ran chkdsk and showed no errors.  Canno9t locate any recovery disk that came with the computer.  I have a complete backup.  Can anyone tell me what my options are?  If I reformat, how do I get a copy of W7?  If I buy a new HD, same question.

Thanks for your help

George

CHKDSK won't tell you if there is a problem as it doesn't detect all problems. if you run CHKDSK /f it will tell you if there is a problem and will try and fix bad sectors and corrupted files. Heat is the worst enemy for hard drives, I would replace the hard drive and order the OS that was supplied with your computer. I have had to do this myself and not a big deal. Buy an external enclosure for your old hard drive and transfer any media files and documents, etc. to your new hard drive.
