Hard drive replacement problem
I have a Dell Inspiron 580 desktop. The hard drive quit, and I installed a replacement. Then I loaded Windows 7 from the Dell disk., Then I rebooted from the hard drive, then tried to install the drivers from the Dell driver disk. The setup program says This a Dell disk, and setup doesn't recognize this computer as a Dell, or a phrase to that effect, and then then setup program quits. I need help. Thank you for your message.
After the OS installation restart the computer a couple of times to complete the activation /updates (if connected to the network)
Open device manager & check if the network driver is installed. If you are able to connect to the network install the drivers in this order http://dell.to/2urX6Zp you can skip the drivers which are not available & proceed to the next one.
If you do not have access to the internet on this computer. Download the driver from www.support.dell.com (enter your system service tag – click on drivers & downloads) on another computer & then install to this system.
Click on my Dell username & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.
