Hard drive password needed
Hello.
I have a Dell Latitude E6420 and I have been locked out of it. When I boot it gives a screen requesting the Hard drive password. Can you help me please?

Only Dell support can -- and only in a limited way. Upon proof of ownership, the will issue you a master password that will unlock the system -- however, this WILL NOT remove the password from the hard drive. That's stored on the drive itself - and isn't accessible without the tools of a data recovery service specialist. Once you have unlocked the system, the cheapest way to proceed is to replace the hard drive.
If you must have the data on the drive, it'll need to be sent to a recovery service to be unlocked. This will cost a minimum of $100-150 -- or about three times the cost of a replacement drive.
DO NOT connect another hard drive to the system until you get the setup unlocked -- if you do, the replacement drive will inherit the unknown password.
