Hard Drive Error Code 2000-0142

Inspiron 15 (3531, Mid 2014)

I tried boot diagnostic the result was unsuccessful with error code of 2000-142.

I was able to used a quick run diagnostic via dell online support site - it indicates Critical Errors found

for hardware failure then suggested for a replacement.

Failed on both Targeted Read Test and SMART Short Self Test.

Hope to hear from you on your expert recommendations on hardware issues.

Error code 2000-0142 usually indicates a failing/failed hard drive, first try removing and reinstalling the Hard Drive, then rerun the diagnostics and see if you receive the same error.

 If the same error is received, the hard drive has failed, then you need to replace it.

If you have a Dell warranty in effect, contact  Dell's Technical Support for a replacement Hard drive.

Very strange - I just received the same error code. I have an Alienware Aurora-R4 that suddenly stopped working.  I came to this blog to see if there were any answers - and found someone with the same error - a little odd.

I'd also be interested in a reply from Dell or a guru ... [Admin Note: Personal Information Removed]
