Failing Harddrive Question

Hi all,

My Dell Seagate harddrive appears to be failing according to Windows disc checking tool and Sea Tools. My question is, since this is an OEM computer (Windows 7, 64-bit), will I have to purchase a replacement Seagate drive from Dell, or can I purchase a drive from the retailer of my choice?

You can use any drive of the same type and physical dimensions.  There's nothing special about Dell's hard drives.

Hi rusty.07,

If the system is still under warranty and if the hard drive was sent as part of the configuration, then the hard drive will be replaced (if required after troubleshooting) without any extra charges.

If the hard drive was purchased separately from the system, then you would need to purchase a new hard drive (of your choice).

Please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your email address, so that we can check the system configuration and warranty status.
