EIDE vs. SATA?

What is the difference between EIDE and SATA hard drives? I just purchased an Inspiron E1705 off the Dell Outlet. If you buy it new through the website all that is available in configuration is SATA (which is what I wanted). But, there is only EIDE available through the Dell Outlet. Why is this? I thought they were different.

Why is it that there are none with EIDE sold new, but all the outlet ones are ONLY EIDE? I think I saw only one SATA drive in the outlet. You'd think the same laptops they sell new would be in the outlet. Do they switch out all the HD's before they sell it on the outlet? It just doesn't make any sense.

Have you received the computer yet?  I think you'll find it has a SATA drive, and the description on the Outlet site was wrong.
