DVD not working but audio still working

Hi,

 

When I try and play a DVD on my laptop I hear a faint clicking noise a couple of times, but the drive does not spin.

 

I am able to play audio, and burn data onto discs.  I have checked device manager and it's saying the device is working properly.  I've even downloaded a trail version of an up to date decoder as I thought that win XP updates may have affected the old one, but this has not worked.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
