DVD drive not working

I have a Dell all in one PC, but the DVD drive doesn't work. I think it worked originally, but I haven't used the drive since I first got it ( about 2 years ago). It doesn't read the disc when I put one in, and then it refuses to eject so I can remove it. Once something is inside, it'll only open if I stick a paperclip in the little hole. There are no updates for the driver, and I tried uninstalling and then letting it automatically reinstall. No good.
