DVD Drive Keeps Accessing - Dell Precision M6800

The drive tries to access every 30 seconds or so. You can hear it clicking, the DVD and the system storage lights go on. It is now appearing as a hidden device in Win 10 device manager and it says that it is disconnected. If that were true, why is it accessing? Device manager states the driver by MS is current. I see no Dell DVD driver on the support site. I've tried uninstalling the drive and rebooting. Same thing. I removed the drive in device manager - same thing - keeps attempting to access. Any help is appreciated. Thank you,
