Disc Drive
I have a desk top with a vertical Disc Drive. When I push the button to open it it only opens an inch. Is it suppose to be that way? Backing up a music CD to I tunes the drive sped up so fast and noisy I thought a plane was flying low over the house. I couldn't finish importing the CD. Often when I put a CD or SD card in it is not recognized. My Epson install printer disc installed I have to go to my computer to see what's on it. Is all this normal. How can I talk to a real person before the warrantee runs out.

You don't mention which model desktop you have, but on my Optiplex 3020, the DVD drive pops out about an inch when I push the button.

To add to the conversation, a lot of newer desktops use laptop style DVD/Bluray drives which do not have motorized trays so they will just 'pop' out about an inch or less. Also because of this design, if the CD/DVD has heavy writing or images on it, it may become slightly imbalanced which causes vibration and noise that laptop style players are less able to dampen.

Thanks for answering. I'm in contact with support and they said some models only open an inch but weren't sure about mine. I'll have to assume it's normal.

It is awkward putting the CD into this vertical drive It's an Inspiron desktop. Maybe it was snapped in a little crooked, so was out of balance. But: why the tremendous speed burst .
