Dimension 2400 Partitions

Hey everybody! I have a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop computer that was originally shipped with Windows XP Home Edition along with Service Pack 2. I was planning to perform a factory restore, so I reformatted the hard drive, and did not realize that both the Dell PC Restore by Symantec and Dell Utility Partition were on the hard drive. I tried all different kinds of partition recovery software to recover both of them, but they could not find both of the partitions. I was wondering if there was a way to recreate both of those partitions, and if someone could send me all of the contents of the Dell PC Restore by Symantec and Dell Utility Partition on the hard drive? Thanks everyone!

In order to re-create those, you'd need XP plus a copy of Symantec Ghost.  I doubt you'll be able to get Dell to sell you a copy of the recovery partition/XP at this point.  You may want to purchase a copy of Windows 10 (or 7 if you can still find one for sale).  XP is basically useless at this point since it's dangerous to use online, having seen no security updates in recent memory.

Thank you for replying, ejn3. I think I am just going to use my original Dell Recovery CDs and reinstall the original operating system, drivers, and applications back on the computer, and then create a ghost image. One more thing, I have seen that on most of the Dell systems that run Windows XP, there is a shortcut to the Dell owners manual on the desktop. When I reformatted my hard drive, it would not reinstall when I used my XP reinstallation CD. Is there any way to get the manual and the shortcut back on to the system? And with the utility partition, I also hear that there is a tool online on Dell's website that you can use to recreate a utility partition. Thanks so much for the help.

You'd need to purchase a copy of Ghost to make an image - it's not downloadable for that purpose.

You can download the PDF of the owner's manual here:

I do also have all of the original recovery media for my Dell computer, so I will use those for my Dell. If anybody else has any ideas on how to recreate the Dell PC Restore partition on Windows XP, please let me know. Thanks for the help, ejn63! :)
