Dim 4600 new 300G HD install problem
Hey there good smart people of the computer world. I'm nowhere near a computer genius...but I'm able enough to have gone out and bought a Maxtor 300G hard drive to install in my 4600 P4, 2.8ghz, 512MB RAM to replace my very dead Seagate Barracuda (anyone singing Heart songs right now?) that wouldn't even boot anymore. I was fortunate enough to have pulled all my data off before it completely jetted off to hard drive heaven...all except for the driver that would allow me to install XP back on my new drive. My CD-RW and DVD-R are not being recognized by my new hardware...and I can't get the darn things out to see who the manufacturer is...so I need a generic driver that I can download on a floppy....and I'm having nooooo luck on the dell website. Would someone be so kind as to point me in the right direction? I would appreciate it so very much!

Sorry, I've got no idea at what step you need help. Are you trying to boot to your XP disc and your optical drives cannot see it? Or have you already installed XP and your OS is not seeing the optical drives correctly?
