Dell Portable Backup Hard Drive - 2TB

I am trying to use a Dell Portable Backup Hard Drive (2TB) on my Asus 64 bit laptop running windows 7 Home Premium (SP 1).  When I first plugged it in to the usb port, it showed it was downloading drivers.  It shows in Devices and Printers as a portable device but the manufacturer is unknown.  But, I cannot see the drive in Windows Explorer.  I also tried using it running through a powered usb hub and it is still not recognized in Windows Explorer.  Are there any ideas?

Hi Adolphsendl,

There are several reasons why an external drive might not appear in Explorer, a drive letter conflict being one of the most common. The first two places to check to see if the device is recognized by the OS are disk management and device manager. In disk management, you can partition the drive and manually assign a drive letter that does not conflict with existing devices.

Thanks for your help with this!  I am able to use both of my portable drives now.
