Dell Inspiron 560 installing a second hard drive

I am wanting to know if it is possible to run two hard drives in this computer for max storage?

Yes, the Inspiron 560 MT supports two 3.5" internal SATA hard drives.

Dell has not published any written instructions for adding an additional SATA hard drive in the 560 MT.

But, as the Dell 530 Mini Tower has the same chassis, the same procedures can be used.

Instructions for physically installing a second hard drive are Here:

  http://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/inspiron-530_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.pdf

After installing the second hard drive, enter the Setup [BIOS] and check that the drive is enabled [on].

Then you need to partition, format the hard drive and assign it a drive letter, using Disk Management.

How to Change, add, or remove a drive letter:-

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-add-remove-drive-letter#1TC=windows-7

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/change-drive-letters-windows-7.htm

Note: You cannot change the drive letter of the partition that Windows 7 is installed on. In a normal Windows 7 system, this is the "C" drive.

My personal preferences, are Western Digital, followed by Seagate.

You need an internal, 3.5", 7200rpm SATA hard drive, up to 2TB in size.

Also check the length of the manufacturer's warranty, longer the better.

Is there a way to change the letter designation of a 2nd HD without re-formatting the drive?
