Dell 3880 works fine with samsung 850 ssd (OS ,will not see samsung 870 ssd after install
I just got a newer dell 3880 that had a 500gb samsung 850 ssd sata with (OS) I want to put my 1tb samsung 870 ssd with windows 10 . After I install it will not act as a boot drive only storage drive , this drive works fine in my dell 8500

You need to migrate your OS from the old drive to the new one in order for the computer to boot off of it. Use Macrium Reflect Free to clone all partitions from the old drive to the new one. When the cloning process finishes, completely turn off your computer and remove the old drive from the laptop (to ensure that the BIOS reconfigures itself correctly) then turn it back on. Afterwards, the new drive should be configured as the primary boot drive.

Hi I migrated the os from the old drive to a new ssd 512gb using Aomei backerupper , this new drive boots up fine on my old 8500 computer , but will not boot on the 3880 even if it is the sole drive installed
