CD Rom not burning anymore

Hi there

Have a Dimension 4100 and a AOPEN Com5232/AAH Pro CD/R. Was using it the other day to burn stuff onto a cdr and it worked ok but now it doesn't. I put a new cdr in it but the software says there is no disc in the drive. I have uninstalled the driver and it has found it again when I rebooted the pc. When I put the disc in the green light flashes a few times then stops. Any suggestions?

Can you read discs? Or is it only blanks?

nope, everything looks ok. No yellow question marks. It says this device is working properly.

There is a Dell diagnostics test for CD drives. Download the latest version from the support site and use the download to prepare a set of five floppy disks. To run them, boot to the first floppy and follow the instructions. You'll need to put a data disc in the CD drive to run the test.

Contact dell support either through the chat where they can take control over your computer through dellconnect to find out what's wrong with the drive. that's what they did for me and they replace the drive. because I was having the same problem as you intil today when I receive the new drive

hope this helps you out of what to do
