cd- rom caddy for d505

how can i use dvd to hdd caddy in my old d505? 

looks like universal hdd caddy doesnt fit.

also can i upgrade to a SATA drive.. there is a sata to ide connector but it wont fit in d505.

You can't. This model features hot-swapable optical/floppy drives, which uses their own propitiatory connector and profile. While it probably can be done by removing and replacing the optical drive from it's hot-swapable caddy, you will have to source an IDE CD bay adapter AND an IDE 2.5" hard drive as this model does not support SATA.

If you're looking to expand your existing storage, you're better off using an external hard drive connected by USB. Please be aware that if you're using Windows XP, you can't use a drive larger than 2 terabytes, AND it must be formatted with a master boot record (MBR) partition style.
