BSOD 0x0000007b on XP SP2 install

My Demension B110 HD died...
The new WD1600AAJB is a EIDE drive that is replacing the blown EIDE WD1600JB...
Formatted HD from WD Utility CD...
Booted to Dell OEM OS CD...
It sees the new HD and starts Windows...
Set BIOS "OS Intallation" mode to "On"
Based on other forum postings, my hunch is that the Dell controller needs drivers that not on the Dell OS cd...
The only drivers I see on Dell drivers download for my service tag is the PATA drivers...
If these are the correct drivers, how do I slip-stream them into the OEM install script?

Any suggestions or links that might help me?
Thanks again for your time...

You should not need to load special drivers for that machine.  They are very standard.  Normally only SATA drives operating in a non-PATA compatible mode (or other specialty controllers) need to load the drivers.

If you have a floppy drive, you can put them on there on load by pressing F6, but I doubt it will help.

Here are some more suggestions.

That machine only has IDE drives.

thats a standard error message

your bios and hard disk controller are using ahci rather then sata

since windows XP does not have built in support, you need to hit f6 during install to load the right driver for the intel matrix which you can find from dell drivers.

the other option is to set it to run as ata in bios

Correct... on-board ide controller...

I was on the phone with Dell support last night for 2hrs partitioning and running diagnostics on the drive... The drive checks out fine, which tells me the controller drive combo are ok...

It boots properly from multiple CDs and even from the OS/CD, but when the OS install does a reboot to the HD I get the BSOD between the Windows XP splash screen and the desktop...

Dell is sending me a new OS CD... I will keep you posted...
