Any way to lower hard drive noise?

Both of my Latitudes exhibit very noisy hard drives. It is not the ticking busy noise. it is just the sound of the platters spinning. Any way to quiet them down? Insualte some how?

Not short of replacing the drives with quieter ones - Seagate and Samsung make the quietest notebook drivs; Hitachis usually run quite loud.

If its a newer Latitude, you can set the SATA Drive options to something other than "Performance" and that might help.

Look for a drive with fluid bearings, and note that a faster spinning drive e.g. 7200RPM most likely will be louder than a 5400 or 4200RPM unit.
