Alienware HD Replacement

Hi,

4 YO Alienware 17, hard drive needs replacement.  Original system was Win 8, upgraded to Win 10.  I am not able to image the old HD.  Is there a way to replace the HD, and load Win 10 from scratch with the original Win 8 license?  

If yes, with a new formatted blank HD, how do I install Win 10?  

Appreciate any assistance that can be provided.
