Adding SSD
would very much appreciate help. I have Dell XPS Studio 8100, with 2 1tb HDD and 2 installed optical drives. Not sure how easy it would be to install SDD, even if there is a space to do it.

I have the same model. Yes, it's easy, and yes, there's space. See my Wiki article for one option.

There may be alternatives without removing one of your optical drives but I didn't really evaluate any. I've also got two HDDs, so it seemed my spare 5.25" bay was the easiest option.
I've also got 4 x 2GB RAM and have not seen the need for more. But the system accommodates 4 x 4GB modules.

not sure if my reply got to you. Would I need to take out of of the optical drives?
Also q re memory - I have 4x 2G RAM, Any point in increasing it to get more speed? Not gaming, though.
