Adding a disk to XPS tower

I recently bought an XPS tower special edition.  I went to add a second disk to it today and found that there were no free data cables (if that is the right term).  Each drive bay had a power plug near it but no data.  There were 2 data cables leaving the mother board.  One to the primary disk drive and one to the optical drive.  Do I need to buy a data cable that has 2 plugs on it and replace the one that is there?  My new cable would go to both disk drives?  Thanks.

SATA cables are single plug at both ends - each SATA device needs a SATA cable (this is not like the older EIDE drive type, where two drives could be attached per cable).

You do need a new SATA cable to attach a new drive.

Yes you need to purchase cables to install the drives. You will also need to purchase cables that have a 90 degree bend at each end. I just got done adding two 4TB drives to my new 8920 and did not have the correct cables. Mine have straight connectors on both ends.
