About AHCI on a Studio 540

Hello I recently added a SSD in my Studio 540 and installed Windows 7 on it, with old HDD as a storage.

I have learned if I turn SATA Mode to Raid in BIOS, it will enable AHCI mode.

While after I done this, when I restart the PC, it shows bluescreen and the windows required repair, and can't start correctly. May because of the two disk and enable Raid mode

How can I only enable AHCI and disable Raid ?

Thanks a lot, from this post  en.community.dell.com/.../19440975

I  changed  "Start" Values in Registry, and switched bios to Raid mode, and it works.

It seems that the registry fix has the same effect.

Hi NMY9172,

I assume you're changing from ATA to AHCI. There's a way to fix this by installing the RAID driver before you switch the controller mode in the BIOS. See if this helps.
