Upgrade path for EmailXtender
We are currently running EX 4.81.1147. Is there an upgrade path to get to SourceOne or does it require a new build?

There is not an in-place upgrade to SourceOne.
The products are different enough that it isn't possible.
It would be a coexistence model standing up a new environment and configuring a connector to EX.
Presently the migration of data from EmailXtender to SourceOne would have to be performed by a Trained/Certified Partner or EMC Professional Services.
That would be performed using an EMC OEM'd and customized Third Party tool (Transvault).
There is a Migration Tool in testing that should be available in the spring that would allow a Customer to do their own migration.
There are costs, advantages and disadvantages with either method.
Either way you have to stand up a new S1 Environment.
EmailXtender will continue to be supported through the Migration (up to March 2014) as long as you are in coexistence and upgrade your EmailXtender licenses to S1 (N/C).

Hi Toddhart,
To add to Gary's last post. In our new version of SourceOne, targeted to be released at the end of Q1 2012, it will have a feature to use your existing EmailXtender indexes and container files and be utilized by SourceOne.
There will be more details released in the next couple/few weeks.
Thanks,
Brad
