Sourceone sql database temporary license expired

Hello, SourceOne experts.

Please, could you help me. In one of our customers was done a SourceOne implementation. The sql server was installed with a trial license. Now the trial license is expired. We have the new license, but this new license is Standard.
Sql server is not working.

How can install the standard license .. or is there any procedure to move a new sql server with standard license.

Thank you for your quick help.

Greetings,

Were you using Enterprise Edition currently?

Why I am asking is because when SourceOne Dbs gets created depending upon the edition selected, underlying schema is created to support features of that edition e.g. for ent. edition partitioning is enabled that is not possible in standard edition.

SourceOne databases can be moved from one server to another using the same edition, steps are available in SourceOne documentation (Admin/install guides).

There are other possibilities as well, I would encourage you to talk to EMC support to have your system looked at before suggesting anything.

Best regards,

Rajan

Hi Octavio,

Were you using a SQL Server Enterprise Edition in trial mode?

We have performed a SQL downgrade from Enterprise to Standard in the past, please contact me if you need any help.

Hi Bencs.

Sorry for my long reply... We're using SQL Enterprise Edition with the sourceone database. The trial license has already expired. Customer brought a new license for SQL but it's Standard NOT enterprise.  Could you help me providing a guide how to move to standard edition ? .. could be possible ? .. Thank you.

Rajan, Please excuse me for me long reply.

The customer installed a SQL enterprise trial version for sourceone database. But the license expired and now we're seeing how to solve the issue. They have a permanent license but is for SQL standard edition and we are checking if could install a new server and migrate the data from the old SQL enterprise server to new SQL standard. Could be this possible ?

Thank you.

Hi Octavio,

I have come across customer who went from STD edition to ENT edition although EMC documentation clearly documents that move between editions is not supported due to underlying schema. EMC is working on supporting STD to ENT move, I am not aware of anything where DBs are moved from ENT to STD.

Please open service request with support to explore what options you have.

Best regards,

Rajan

There is no method available to migration from SQL Enterprise to SQL Standard edition.

There are features available in Enterprise than SourceOne will leverage when the databases are created on SQL Enterprise.

There is no way to go back to Standard without starting over with a new install.

Hi I have the same issue.

SQL 2014 eval only installs as Enterprise and then you have to do a in-place downgrade to license it.

I understand that there might be schema problems that stop it moving but what are my options?
