SourceOne Restore Email Not Working

A few months ago I did a SourceOne installation and implemented journaling and shortcutting. Tested the shortcut resolution (clicking on the link for the attachment when the Outlook Add-In was not installed) and was able to open the attachment and restore the email back to the Exchange server.

Now, when clicking on the attachment link and authenticating with domain\username and password, an error message comes up that says in effect you do not have owner permissions to view the message. I've checked the Exchange and SourceOne permissions, as well as the shared directory settings, and they all look fine. I also check the IIS settings, and those look fine.

Does anyone have any idea how this could have been changed, and how to go about fixing it?

Raj -

Thanks for your reply...you got me that it was a release prior to 6.5.4115. What I have been trying to find is the SQL database upgrade scripts, but am getting no answers. So that is why I cannot do the upgrade at this point.

I will take your suggestions (in fact, we will reboot the server tomorrow). But this is just strange how the permissions would change.

Thanks again.

As for the next issue, when I did install the Outlook Add-In on the client workstation (running Office 2007 Professional Plus), whenever I open Outlook things seem to be fine. However, when I click on an email that is now a shortcut item, Outlook crashes and restarts. This happens continuously.

Hi Kauano,

What version of SourceOne have you installed ?

If its below 6.5.0.4115 then I believe you are running a release that is not support as a GA version. Why I am suspecing so is because GA version didn't have shortcut add-in, you only had option to use SourceOne Offline Access.

Any machines that do not have Offline Access will fall on a design layer that is to support machines if some how shortcut resolution support is not installed. That mechanism uses permission on the MAPPED FOLDERS to decide if a attachment will be given to the user or not.

Permissions needed are already discussed in the Documentation. After having enough permissions if user is still having issue I could suggest following:

1. Restart All services for ES1 and see if that help.
2. If restart of services do not help then Remove permissions for the user in question from MAPPED FOLDERS, Wait for about 30 minutes, add back permissions, wait for another 30 minutes and then test. If you do nto want to wait I would suggest restarting services because that will push changes to be sync quickly.

Hope this helps.

Rajan

One more thing we need to remember is that the version you have was a test version so chances are you might be running into things that could have been fixed in GA release.

Kauanoe,

Where you member of IDP program for SourceOne ? If yes then you should have got what you need in the last meeting of IDP program. Otherwise I think you will have to pursue it through your account team.

I was able to simulate this issue in our own office by removing the permissions on the Mapped Folders...got the same error message. When I added the same permissions back, then it worked perfectly. Today while on a Webex I did the same thing at the client site, and it did not follow the same way. I also stopped/restarted all services, and even reboot the server.

That is strange,

Is it Exchange or Notes shop ? Can this user see the mapped folders when logged on to search using the email address ? That would confirm the permissions he has on the mapped folders.
